Saying Yes to the Dress: A Plus-Size Bride’s Experience

Saying Yes to the Dress: A Plus-Size Bride’s Experience

Hi, I’m Chloe—a proud plus-size bride, and I’m getting married this September!

Planning my dream wedding has been one of the most exciting (and emotional!) adventures of my life. But I’m going to be honest… there was one thing I avoided for as long as possible: wedding dress shopping.

As a curvier bride, I was worried I wouldn’t get that magical “say yes to the dress” moment you always see in movies or on Instagram. I feared I’d walk into a bridal boutique, find nothing in my size, feel judged, and leave feeling like I didn’t belong in the world of bridal fashion.

But then, something amazing happened…

I Said YES to the Dress at a Plus-Size Bridal Boutique!

I had the most empowering and joyful experience at Wedding Belles Love Curvy Brides in Stoke-on-Trent. From the moment I walked in, I was treated like royalty. They welcomed me with bubbly, a personalised sign, and even gave my bridal party ribbons to help pick out dresses. I felt celebrated, supported, and seen.

And the best part? The dresses actually fit. Beautiful, modern, elegant gowns—in real plus sizes, not just stretched samples. I finally looked in the mirror and felt incredible. I saw a bride. I saw me.

And YES, I found the one! I’m keeping it a secret for now (because my fiancé reads everything I post 👀), but let’s just say: I’ve never felt more beautiful in anything in my life.

Dresses I Tried (But Didn’t Say Yes To)

I tried on five gorgeous gowns in total—four of which didn’t make the cut. But each dress helped me figure out what felt like “me” and what didn’t. Here’s a little behind-the-scenes of my try-on journey:

Dress One – Puffy sleeves & fit-and-flare drama

This dress brought major romance and high-fashion vibes. I loved the drama, but I worried it would overwhelm me. I could already picture myself looking back and regretting a trendy choice rather than a timeless one.

Dress Two – Sheer basque with netting

Pretty and delicate, but truthfully… I didn’t have the boobs for it! It looked beautiful on the hanger, but I didn’t feel secure or bridal once it was on.

Dress Three – Silky, simple & classic with added sleeves

Elegant and timeless, this one had potential. But I felt like I was trying to make it into a dress I liked, rather than loving it as it was. Close, but not quite the one.

Dress Four – Fit and flare with a plunging neckline

A flattering shape and a dramatic neckline—so many elements I loved. But again, it didn’t suit my bust, and I just didn’t feel 100% confident.

Dress Five – THE One (But Still a Secret!)

This one is under wraps… but let’s just say I knew instantly. I felt like a beautiful version of myself—confident, comfortable, and glowing. It was perfect.

Dear Online Trolls: Get a Hobby (And Leave My Body Out of It)

Dear Online Trolls: Get a Hobby (And Leave My Body Out of It)

Because scrolling past a happy fat woman and her fiancé and leaving a hate comment isn’t edgy — it’s just embarrassing.

The other day, I made the fatal error of simply… existing on the internet in a fat body.

Recently, a photo of me and my fiancé was shared on a wedding page. We’re getting married this September — and the photo? It was just us. Smiling. Together. Being in love. You know, the exact purpose of a wedding page.

But within hours, the comment section was swarming. Not with congratulations. Not with “How lovely!”. Nope. It was full of people absolutely frothing at the mouth over the fact that we had the audacity to be visibly happy.

Some of the comments were cruel. Some were downright laughable. Some were so painfully bitter that I wanted to reply, “Blink twice if your life is okay.”

Because imagine scrolling past two strangers in love and thinking, “This is where I shall unload all of my insecurities today.” Tough life, huh?

Let’s get one thing straight:

If you’re the kind of person who leaves hate comments on someone’s body online, you are not “just being honest.” You are not “sharing your opinion.” You are the worst kind of person… with too much free time on your hands.

Touch grass. Drink water. Journal. Knit. Take a walk. Get therapy. Do literally anything else besides typing out your issues on someone else’s joy.

This isn’t just rude. It’s harmful.

Online body-shaming might feel like a throwaway comment to you. But to the person receiving it? It can land like a punch.

It’s been linked to:

  • Disordered eating
  • Depression
  • Body dysmorphia
  • Anxiety
  • Self-harm
  • Suicidal thoughts

For someone already struggling, one cruel message can be the breaking point.

Your words don’t just sit on a screen. They echo — sometimes long after you’ve forgotten you typed them.

I used to take it personally.

Now I treat it like spam.

Years ago, this kind of comment would’ve seriously harmed my mental health. But not anymore.

Now I’m surrounded by friends and family who love and support me. I’ve got a partner who sees my whole self and calls it beautiful. And trolls? They just bounce off. Like water off a duck’s back.

You can come for my body — but you’ll never touch my self-worth. That’s no longer up for discussion.

If you’ve ever been the target of body-shaming or trolling — here’s what I want you to know:

  • You are not the problem.
  • You don’t need to change to deserve respect.
  • You don’t need to be thinner to be loved.
  • You don’t need to shrink to stay safe.

You are allowed to take up space — in love, in joy, in grief, in a wedding dress, on Instagram, in whatever body you exist in today. And if you’re hurting right now? Please don’t suffer alone.

And to the trolls?

May your favourite mug always leak.

May your autocorrect always betray you.

May your Wi-Fi die during your series finale.

And may your mirror one day show you the real issue.

Because my body? Was never it.

Taking Evans jeans from day to night

Taking Evans jeans from day to night

So, I’ve always had chunky thighs and a peach of a bum and so finding a pair of jeans that are comfortable and stylish that fit well is tough.

I’ve bought lots of jeans from various places over the years, but some brands just don’t seem to understand the needs of a plus size woman when it comes to jeans. Often you find fake, or small pockets and jeans without belt loops – which is just not practical!

I’ve always been a big fan of Evans jeans, they just always seemed to fit properly and are made with plus-size women in mind! I can remember the first time I put on a pair of Evans jeans, I’d almost given up on wearing jeans, that when I put them on it was like a real hallelujah moment!

So when the guys over at Evans offered to gift me some pieces of denim, as part of a paid promotion, I was over the moon! I was kindly gifted two pairs of jeans and this is what I thought. Continue reading “Taking Evans jeans from day to night”

Men. Who TF asked you anyway?

Men. Who TF asked you anyway?

Im backkkkk! I’ve not posted a blog post in a while and lord how I’ve missed it!

So imagine this, the other night I was out with friends just enjoying myself and letting my hair down. We were walking back to our taxi when a grown man stopped me to comment on my appearance?! Whether he was drunk, ignorant or just stupid it definitely wasn’t okay and it just made me question WTF is up with men, and when did we ask them for their opinions? Continue reading “Men. Eating Disorder Awareness Week – Eating Disorders affect all kinds of bodies

Eating Disorder Awareness Week – Eating Disorders affect all kinds of bodies

So this week its eating disorder awareness week. It’s an international event that helps to address the misconceptions of eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and ENDOS. Eating disorders can be seriously damaging to a persons physical and mental health. By raising awareness it not only stops misconceptions but gives those who struggle with food some support. It raises awareness of what to do and what services are out there that people can reach out to find support.

I know what you’re thinking, why would a fatty be talking about eating disorders? Surely she’s just making excuses for a poor diet? Well actually its a common misconception that those who suffer from eating disorders are just thin, when actually around 50% of people that suffer from eating disorders actually suffer from binge eating or ENDOS. Seven Acts of Self-Love for Valentines Day

Seven Acts of Self-Love for Valentines Day

This Valentines Day I wanted to spread the love and what better way to do this than by spreading the self-love message. In true RuPaul fashion, ‘if you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else’.

So for the next 7 days leading up to Valentines Day I’m sharing 7 acts of self-love (one a day) to encourage you to proactively do the same! I’ll be sharing these on my Instagram page @chloeepeach and using the hashtag #sevenactsofselflove so you can share with me how you partake in self-love this Valentines Day. Gone are the days of Valentines just being about couples and relationships! So get involved!
